Star Wars fans all over the world joined hands in celebrating May 4 as Star Wars Day and greeting each other- May the 4th Be With You. The best part of celebrating, of course, is wearing costumes and speak like Yoda or maybe like Darth Vader and carry lightsabers.
Resorts World Manila joined the celebration by hosting the 501st Legion (the Philippine Outpost, an international organization that wear costumes from Star Wars) with festivities at the Newport Plaza that includes a large toy collectibles of the Star Wars characters.
R2D2, the famous and lovable droid from the movie. By the way, for those who doesn't know, Star Wars is a movie in the late 70's that popularized the characters Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, Princess Leia, C3PO, Yoda, and a whole lot more.
This R2D2 is a "real" robotic droid made by Mr. Tiny Panganiban. He built the robot for the period of 6 years. This is the first R2D2 in the country, while another Star Wars enthusiast is already tinkering with the third one.
This lovely little girl is cosplaying as Princess Leia. Her dad is a Star Wars enthusiast.
There are some kids and adults cosplaying. Look- I see Amidala!
Sith. I've watched Star Wars Trilogy and even owned an original VHS copy. **video home system (VHS). This character(s) is not included in the first trilogy but instead on the prequel, with Amidala. Honestly, I find the Siths scary!
Yoda. He is a Jedi Master, a powerful one albeit his size. "Size matters not ... look at me. Judge me by size, do you?" - Yoda. He is fond of giving ageless words of wisdom. "Try not. Do or do not. There is no try."
And Star Wars won't be complete without our beloved Darth Vader. Next to Yoda, he is also my favorite character.
The Star Wars collectibles will be on display at the lobby of Resorts World Manila until May 15.
