PLDT-Smart Foundation Marks Its 10th Year of Gabay Guro

Its that time of the year again when PLDT-Smart Foundation gives a special treat to teachers in its Gabay Guro celebration. Now on its 10th year, Gabay Guro grew from humble beginnings through the support and advocacy of the members of PLDT-Smart Foundation, and until other companies and brands joined in.

As we all know, teachers are one of the most bypassed figures in our lives although they have really played an important roles in shaping our minds.

Thru the Gabay Guro Foundation, it has empowered teachers with its numerous trainings, livelihood programs, broadbanding and computerization of schools, housing and facilities, scholarships, and the much-awaited annual grand gathering that the foundation dedicates to teachers.

"Our nation's children depend on our nation's teachers to lead them to a bright future. Gabay Guro gives tribute to those who shape the next generation of nation-builders," said Chaye Cabal-Revilla, Gabay Guro Chairperson.

And because Gabay Guro has reached its first decade, the grand gathering on September 17 at the Mall of Asia Arena will be the biggest celebration ever that will honor our beloved teachers. The country's biggest stars and performers will also join to entertain the teachers. Of course, the celebration won't be complete without raffle prizes such as gadgets, cash prizes, livelihood packages, vehicles and a house and lot.

Some of the stars and performers in this year's Gabay Guro celebratin are: Lea Salonga, Regine Velasquez, Ogie Alcasid, Martin Nievera, Gary Valenciano, Jaya, Sarah Geronimo, Pia Wurtzbach, Pops Fernandez, Andrew Wolfe, Michael Pangilinan, Jona Viray, Marian Rivera, Southborder, Jay-R, Luke Mijares, UP Pep Squad, and G-Force, as well as a lot of surprise big stars.

Thru the years, the Gabay Guro foundation has conducted trainings for 16,000 teachers all over the country with its Teacher's Treasure Chest; English Proficiency Training; Computer Literacy; Emotional Intelligence; Teacher's Armor; Leadership Training; IT Sustainability and Literacy; and Unleashing Creativity in Teaching. And not only that, the foundation also has over 1,200 scholars in various state colleges and universities nationwide, and has partnered with local government units to enhance teacher education. Aside from that, the foundation has also help in the construction of over 40 classrooms that was donated in Cebu, Bohol, Leyte, and Capiz.
